It is hard to imagine a more mesmerizing Christmas setting than the historic centre of Amsterdam.

Every winter, the city’s old town is transformed into a magical winter wonderland with sparkling lights and decorated Christmas trees, against a backdrop of gingerbread-like houses.

This 4-day tour will take you in with its convivial atmosphere combined with many culinary delights and includes the sights of old Haarlem, or Leiden Christmas market. This all results in an incredible Christmas experience.

With a maximum of 8 guests, you will have a truly personalised trip, getting the most from your own personal guide and meeting others that are looking for a new Christmas experience.

Hello, I am Andy Oliver, your guide.

I am now retired from 22 years in the military service which took me around the world and the battlefields of the Western Front and Far East.

I have studied, toured, and guided on the Western Front battlefields for the last few years since retiring from the Armed Forces. I have built up an extensive knowledge of the Great War and I look forward to sharing it with you.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 - Meet and greet and overnight ferry over to Rotterdam

  • Meet up at convenient location for you, at your home if you live locally, Hull train station, or P&O Ferry terminal at King George Docks in Hull
  • Check into the P&O Ferries, Hull for the overnight ferry to Rotterdam

Day 2 - Make our way to Amsterdam Christmas Market

  • After breakfast on the ferry, we make our way to Amsterdam from Rotterdam
  • We visit the convention centre in Amsterdam which is transformed into a winter wonderland with both indoor and outdoor ice-skating rinks, seasonal parties, dinning galore, and a giant Ferris wheel that looks out over the city of Amsterdam
  • We visit the Funky Christmas market which highlights the work of local artists, and fashion designers. This special Funky Christmas market is known to be groovy market
  • We take in the Ice village at Amsterdam’s Museumplein, which is transformed into a charming Christmas village, complete with ice rink, live entertainment, market stalls and plenty of festive food a drink to keep you warm
  • You can take a spin on the ice – or play some “human bowling” – in one of the most breath-taking Christmas markets in Amsterdam
  • At the end of the day, we check into the hotel Jakarta in Amsterdam, for a one-night stay
  • In the evening you have your own time to visit and discover what Amsterdam has to offer at Christmas time

Day 3 - Christmas Market in Haarlem or Leiden

  • After a good breakfast we make our way back to Rotterdam via Haarlem, or Leiden, for another day of sightseeing
  • We visit your choice of Christmas market on this day. Haarlem is one of the largest Christmas markets in the whole of the Netherlands. This Christmas market is a must-see, must-do experience
  • As we wander through the hundreds of market stalls weaving throughout the city centre, the sounds of Christmas carols and the scent of holiday treats fills the air, making it hard to ever head home
  • Or we also visit the Christmas market in Leiden, which offers the only Christmas market of its kind in the Netherlands. The large floating festival during Leiden’s winter wonder week is a perfect spot to get into the Christmas spirit, with almost 100 cosy winter chalets hosting shopping, snacks, and drinks
  • After we have visited Haarlem or Leiden on our way back to Rotterdam, and it is well worth a visit to enjoy the waterfront atmosphere while you sip on mulled wine or hot chocolate
  • Whether you board a canal cruise, ice skate, or just relax and listen to the live music, it is sure to be an amazing trip before going home for Christmas
  • Check into the P&O Ferries, Rotterdam for the overnight ferry to Hull

Day 4 - Drop off and return home

  • Return to King George Docks, Hull. You can be dropped off at Hull train station for onward travel home if required
  • Drop off at a convenient location for you in the Hull area if required
